The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

If you haven't heard of The Ordinary skincare line, you should have, mehn! Have you been hiding out in a cave all this time? DECIEM, the parent company of The Ordinary (a Canadian brand), is currently the top seller in the market for high-quality skincare products, and guess what? The skincare items from The Ordinary are incredibly affordable. In fact, they are renowned for their collection of inexpensive skincare products. The Ordinary brand set a new benchmark for achieving the ideal balance between affordable and high-quality skincare products.

But first, let's define niacinamide and discuss its advantages for the skin before moving on to the review.

Benefits of Niacinamide and Zinc to the skin

Niacinamide's main skin benefits include reducing excessive oil production, redness (blotchiness), large visible pores, and unsightly blemishes, all of which enhance the overall tone and texture of the skin.

With its anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties, zinc works in conjunction with other vitamins and minerals to heal skin lesions. It reduces early indications of ageing like wrinkles and fine lines, controls oil production, and protects skin from UV rays of the sun when applied topically as an SPF.

Product Description

Niacinamide, generally referred to as vitamin B3, is proven to lessen hyperpigmentation and acne scarring. Zinc salt is used in the formulation to produce a more consistent action in the skin that also regulates sebum.

Niacinamide is 10% and zinc is 1% in the ordinary niacinamide serum.

Ingredients:

Aqua, Niacinamide, Pentylene Glycol, Zinc PCA, Tamarindus Indica Seed Gum, Carrageenan, Acacia Senegal Gum, Xanthum Gum, Cocyl Proline, Ethoxydiglcol, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin

The Texture and Scent

Like hyaluronic acid serum, The Ordinary niacinamide serum has a light, gel-like texture that allows it to slide over skin with ease. With little to no additional work, it spreads quickly. It swiftly seeps into the skin after application. I actually enjoy it because it absorbs practically immediately when applied to my skin.

The Ordinary Niacinamide Serum has no scent whatsoever because it is fragrance-free, which is actually a good thing because fragrance can irritate people, especially those with sensitive skin.

How did it react on my skin?

This serum has a particular place in my heart since I bought and utilised it. In order to help minimise excess oil, quiet down redness, address pimples, and of course improve my skin tone, I bought The Ordinary's niacinamide serum.

I've been battling oiliness and redness because I have sensitive, oily skin that is prone to acne.

I often have breakouts. I decided to add niacinamide to my regimen even though utilising retinol serum to control my breakouts has been quite successful.

I'm happy to report that, after using The Ordinary's niacinamide serum for two weeks, my expectations were met and that, in fact, the acclaim around this product is well-deserved. First off, it helped lessen overly oily patches, notably around my nose and T-zone. My bothersome small nasty pimples and blackheads were treated, and redness is no longer an issue. My large visible pores were decreased and lowered in size.

But the significant decrease in oiliness is my strongest evidence. My skin isn't producing as much excess oil as it once did, and guess what? My skin tone became better. My major concern, however, was not to upset my skin because the serum includes 10% niacinamide, a very high concentration that may not be suited for all skin types, particularly those with extremely sensitive skin.

It is crucial to perform a patch test first if you believe The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum is the appropriate choice for your skin (to test for allergy). To get the full benefits, apply this water-based serum in the morning and evening before using any heavier oils or creams.

What I Like About The Ordinary Niacinamide Serum.

Very affordable, quickly absorbs, controls excess oil, minimises visible pores, smoothens the skin, enhances the complexion, comes in a nice package, and has no scent.

What I Dislike About The Ordinary Niacinamide Serum.

It took longer to see results, did nothing to lighten pigmentations, and slightly dried out the skin.

I recommend using this serum if you want to lessen oiliness, constrict enlarged pores, eliminate blemishes, minimise redness, and even out your face tone. But it's best to perform a patch test before starting treatment because some skin types can't tolerate high niacinamide concentrations. After conducting a patch test and determining that the serum is good for your skin, don't forget to use a moisturising moisturiser to offset the serum's tendency to somewhat dry up the skin.
